BRYAN MEDINA GRABS GOAL ON DEBUT IN CAL UNITED STRIKERS' AWAY WIN

Medina's incredible solo effort saw us go home with all three points.

Chattanooga, TN – Cal United Strikers FC came away with all three points in their away trip to Chattanooga FC.

Garrett Hogbin's second professional career goal and a Bryan Medina goal on debut saw us end the Chattanooga double header this week with a W after a stale draw back in Orange County.

Head coach Don Ebert rested defender Aydan Bowers and forward Tony Lopez as Gonzalo Salguero and Michael Bryant returned to the Starting XI.

The bigger headline, though, was the new signing Bryan Medina joining the matchday squad for the first time since his signing.

Medina comes from the UPSL, having won the MVP in the national tournament over the summer.

A wet first half saw teams struggle to create meaningful chances in the first half.

Chile Araneda, continuing in his right back position, had the best opportunity for Cal United Strikers in the first half, but a smart save by the foot of the keeper denied him another goal at Finley Stadium.

The second half's momentum shifted as Minjae Kwak was introduced, and Cal United Strikers started dominating proceedings.

The 60th minute saw Michael Bryant direct a Felipe Liborio Jr. corner at the keeper, but another great save denied. Fortunately, defender Garrett Hogbin poked in the rebound as he grabbed his second at Finley Stadium, having scored here against Stumptown AC back in April 2021 during the NISA Legends Cup.

But the best moment of the match came in the 70th minute.

Midfielder Duncan Capriotti played a brilliant ball in to the new signing, Bryan Medina. After dribbling and taking on multiple players from the left side, he rifled in a shot into the bottom corner from the top of the Chattanooga 18-yard box.

A late Chattanooga FC goal in stoppage time put a slight damper on proceedings, but Cal United Strikers did enough to secure the win.

Our next home game is Saturday, October 16th at Championship Soccer Stadium against Stumptown AC. Kickoff is 7:00 PM PST. Tickets can be found: calunitedstrikers.com/tickets.
