ORANGE COUNTY, CA – California United Strikers FC announced another midfield addition to their 2021 Spring Season pro roster by inking San Diego native, Billy Garton Jr. to a contract.

"I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality of the team," says Garton Jr. "Every day I feel I'm being pushed by the staff and my teammates. There's no better environment to be in than one where you feel yourself constantly growing and evolving."

Billy Garton Jr. has soccer running through his veins. The newest member of Cal United Strikers is the namesake of his father who played 51 times for Manchester United, including four years under Sir Alex Ferguson. Born in Salford, Manchester, Garton Jr. moved with his family to San Diego at the age of two. Despite being born a stone’s throw from Old Trafford, Garton was raised and developed in the soccer culture of Southern California and it is this area that he credits with nurturing his professional potential.

The energetic playmaker played with San Diego club sides Albion and Manchester Suffolk Club before joining Real Salt Lake Academy which was based in Arizona. Following his time with the MLS side’s academy, Billy accepted an offer to join the University of Portland to play Division I college soccer. He spent two years with the Pilots before leaving school to pursue a professional career.

His first stop was in England where he spent six months training with QPR before returning to Southern California to sign with his hometown team, 1904 FC ahead of their maiden NISA season.

Billy quickly established himself as one of the premier midfielders in the league and caught the eye of I5 rivals, Cal United Strikers. “The first thing you notice about Billy is his poise on the ball. He comes from a footballing family and that little bit of class shows in his game.” Noted Cal United Strikers GM, Michael Collins. “Although smaller in stature, Billy is a player you notice when he’s on the field. He glides across the pitch, almost effortlessly, and has a wand of a left foot. He is always looking for that incisive final pass.”

Billy is planning for a successful Spring season, "My goal wherever I go will always be to win every trophy out there. As a team we're good enough and individually, you're able to shine when the team has success."
