SEPTEMBER OF SOCCER STARTS WITH A WIN

Cal United Strikers FC secures the points with Minjae Kwak leading the night with two goals.

Irvine, CA – Cal United Strikers FC won their first game at home in September - the first of a stretch of 5 games being played at home.

Omar Nuno notched another goal, taking his tally to a league-leading five.

Head Coach Don Ebert made another set of rotations after last week's setback in North Carolina against Stumptown AC. Alex Vedamanikam was brought back into the lineup, and Shinya Kadono was given his first start of the season against New Amsterdam FC.

An early push to find a goal led to a red card for New Amsterdam FC.

A shot was deemed to be blocked by the New Amsterdam FC's defender and he was given a red card.

Omar Nuno put away the penalty, taking his tally up to five.

He almost had another moments later, but his goal was chalked off due to offside.

Despite being down a man, New Amsterdam FC still put the pressure on the Cal United Strikers FC backline.

They could have easily equalized in the 32nd minute with an effort 10 yards out going just wide of the post.

The 42nd minute saw the highlight of the match.

A beautiful cross field pass from Michael Bryant was taken out of the air by Minjae Kwak. He took on a couple of New Amsterdam FC players before curling a beautiful effort into the top corner from the left side of the box.

Two minutes later, another great Michael Bryant pass saw Christian Thierjung played in, who found himself one on one with the keeper. Despite being in front of goal, he unselfishly played the ball across to Minjae Kwak, who put it in the open net.

The second half saw Tony Lopez seal the points despite a New Amsterdam FC goal.

He drove the ball in from the left, feinting a couple of shots, before his shot found the bottom left corner.
