Published Sep 20, 2021

A FIRST HOME DEFEAT OF THE SEASON FOR CAL UNITED STRIKERS FC

A tough loss at home despite a performance with many positives.

Irvine, CA – Cal United Strikers FC lost their first home game of the season at Championship Soccer Stadium on Saturday night.

Despite a solid performance throughout the game, Michigan Stars FC were able to capitalize through two well worked goals.

Head Coach Don Ebert brought in goalkeeper Jean Antoine into the starting lineup for the first time in his Cal United Strikers career after he recovered from a broken leg sustained in April 2021.

Jean's experience has been missed after strong displays with Detroit City FC in the previous season.

The first half was all Cal United Strikers FC, with forwards Minjae Kwak and Omar Nuno close to finding the net.

Despite the positive first half, two well worked goals in the second half from Michigan Stars FC saw them take home three points on the road.

The loss puts Cal United Strikers FC fourth in the table.

Our next home game is this Sunday, September 26th at Championship Soccer Stadium against Maryland Bobcats FC. Kickoff is 4:00 PM PST. Tickets can be found: calunitedstrikers.com/tickets.
