Roster

Christian grew up in Dove Canyon, California, a community in Orange County.  He played youth soccer in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy with the Strikers FC Academy for current California United Strikers FC’s head coach, Don Ebert.

Upon completion of his youth career, Thierjung was nationally ranked as the 85th best soccer player of top recruits in the country by College Soccer News, ranked 62nd by Top Drawer Soccer, and ranked 44th among 150 players in the class of 2013 by ESPNHS.

Thierjung graduated from Santa Margarita Catholic High School, in Rancho Santa Margarita, where he played soccer his freshman year on the varsity team, while tallying 2 goals for the season.  During his three years with the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, Thierjung scored an impressive total of 57 goals, including 22 goals his senior year with the Strikers FC Academy in 2013.

Following high school, Christian moved on to attend the University of California, Berkeley.  During his four seasons playing for the Cal Men’s Soccer team, Christian was a solid contributor to the Golden Bears’ program both on and off the field as he was named twice to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic First Team during his collegiate career.

During his collegiate junior year, Thierjung scored a “hat trick” that clinched the 4-3 win against the San Diego State Aztecs, including the game winning goal in double overtime.

During his collegiate senior year, Christian led the Golden Bears to a win against Harvard scoring a school record “5 goals” on 10 shots during the match.  Thierjung finished his collegiate senior season with 9 goals, which was the second straight year he achieved this accomplishment.  Thierjung tallied a total of 27 collegiate career goals and 7 assists.

During the summer months of his collegiate career, Thierjung played in the Premier Development League (PDL) for OC Pateadores Blues and the Burlingame Dragons FC.

Christian was selected in the third round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft (50th overall) by the San Jose Earthquakes.  He then moved on to sign with the New York Cosmos B (NPSL) before signing with the Tulsa Roughnecks FC (USL) in 2017 and Reno 1868 FC (USL) in 2018.

Thierjung scored a total of 4 goals in 9 matches with the New York Cosmos B team (NPSL), including a “hat trick” in their 3-0 win to end the season.

While playing for the Tulsa Roughnecks FC (USL), Christian scored the winning goal against the Seattle Sounders FC 2 (USL), which helped clinch the first playoff spot in the franchise’s history.  Thierjung recorded 4 goals as the Tulsa Roughnecks FC (USL) reached the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs for the first time.

While signed with Reno 1868 FC (USL) in 2018, Thierjung contributed 1 goal and 1 assist in 2 appearances (1 season game, 1 Open Cup game).

In 2019, he led the Cal United Strikers to a Western Conference Championship, leading the team with 5 goals and named the Season MVP.
